The years of moving through this healing journey have brought me into alignment with Nature, a connection that nourishes me daily. I’ve also learned extraordinary gratitude for all aspects of my life, including those areas where the experience was challenging and/or painful. Leaning into fear, gently and slowly has taught me to honor my inner wisdom and eventually revealed enough courage to allow expansion and growth in my life.
The processes I encountered on this path that have helped me most include transpersonal therapy, ongoing dream work, various types of meditation, Somatic Experiencing and therapeutic art. This includes the Art of Allowing and Touch Drawing. My growth is far from over, it is a never-ending journey. Along the way, I dip into the light and the inner shadow both, the sacred voice of love and the deep well of all that is within. I experience this awareness move through me in many ways. There is exaltation and pain, love and fear, anger, hope and peace. I’m continually learning to listen to and embrace all aspects of my human being-ness and the spiritual wisdom of the Universe. I’ve learned that there is not a single part of us that is unlovable.
“Perhaps all this work, all our lives, may at least in part come down to this – excavating those parts of us that have not felt love, and loving them with our open heart. “
I teach because making art from within ourselves brings us into greater awareness of our soul and the sacred presence within us all. My focus at this time is about empowering others to seek within themselves, with the idea of creating more balance between two distinct and synergistic energies – the feminine and masculine principals inherent in all of life.
Exploring all aspects of the vastness of who we are brings us face to face with acceptance and love, and to embracing all that it means to be a living, breathing human being, as well as being one with others and all that is. It has moved me profoundly, and sharing with others is an honor. It brings beautiful connections and I welcome this place of knowing both our uniqueness and our oneness.
When we’re open to our soul and allow our entire experience – the wounds, the darkness, the joy and depths of all that is seen and not seen, even the judgments we feel about it – we open ourselves to life, to the flow of all that is. This deep looking inward helps to light our way. As we paint from our souls and listen to our own inner voice that rises to greet us, we create paintings that are unique expressions from our experience. When we begin to heal our precious selves, we create a more loving existence within and around us. This in turn ripples out to the people closest to us and even out into the world.
I don’t think there is any greater pain than not being able to love yourself. Perhaps all this work, all our lives, may at least in part come down to this – excavating those parts of us that have not felt love, and loving them with our open heart.
